“Sopwith 5F.1” was a single-seat biplane of mixed design. The fuselage frame is reinforced with steel wire braces. The fuselage section is rectangular with a rounded upper side. The engine hood is sheathed with aluminum sheet, the sides and the upper side of the fuselage behind the cockpit are sheathed with plywood, the rest of the surfaces had fabric sheathing.

 

Armament – two fixed 7.7-mm machine guns “Vickers” with Constantinescu synchronizer and one or two machine guns “Lewis” installed diagonally in the slot between the upper wings. Sight type “Aldis” or “Norman”. Night fighters used the Hutton sight with electric illumination. Under the lower wing there were holders for four 11-kg Cooper bombs.
