$19.60

Resurgam is the name of two British submarines from the 1870s. The first one was built in 1878, was about 5 meters long and had a screw powered by human muscles. However, the presented model is the second ship called Resurgam (the so-called Resurgam II), which was built in 1879. Its creator was George William Garrett. The unit was built at the Chram and Company in Birkenhead and the cost was estimated at £ 1,500, which at the time was a considerable sum. Resurgam was made primarily of iron, but also had quite a few wooden parts. The unit was powered by a small steam engine patented by Eugene Lama in 1872. The drive allowed for a four-hour cruise. The Resurgam was designed as an auxiliary unit to the Royal Navy. Unfortunately, the vessel sank on February 25, 1880 during one of the sea tests organized by the British Navy. Its wreckage was not found until 1995.
